Gary L. Borman

Gary L. Borman “Pops” “Papa,” age 73, of De Pere, closed his eyes and drifted away to heaven on January 25, 2022. The son of the late Leslie and Janet (Willems) Borman was born on August 29, 1948 in Green Bay. He attended St. Boniface Grade School and West De Pere High School. He married Karen Reince on October 3, 1975 at St. Joseph Catholic Church by the Rev. V. Anthony Dolski, a dear family friend. Gary was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, where he received a bronze star and purple heart. He retired after 47 years at US Paper Mill/Sonoco. His hobbies included playing cards, woodworking, fishing, puzzles, gardening and the Green Bay Packers. His greatest joy and purpose in life was his family, and he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 46 years, Karen, children: Mike (Leisha) Borman, Beth Borman, Amy (Neil) Vanseveren, Tom Borman; grandchildren: Kaitlyn Borman, Tyler (Liz) Maurer, Damian Borman, Madison Kowalski, Dakota Maurer-Just, Hailey Monroe, Emma Monroe and Bella Borman; siblings: Janice Johnson, Judy (Lowell) Kussow, John “Butch” (Julie) Borman, Joann (Scott) Berken; brother-in-law Craig Reince and sister-in-law Joy (Rod) Parus; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jean Ann; Karen’s parents Margaret and Fabian Reince; son-in-law Eric Kowalski; sister-in-law Janice Besson, brother-in-law Richard Reince and sister-in-law Shirl Reince; and the 2021-22 Green Bay Packer season.

Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N Webster Ave, De Pere, on Saturday, January 29, from 2-4pm. A service will follow at 4pm.

Our family would like to thank the DaVita Dialysis Center, De Pere Fire Rescue and the caregivers at St. Vincent Hospital for their kind assistance.
