Vernon Bougie was born March 12, 1931 to Joseph and Rose (Vanden Heuvel) Bougie in the Town of Lawrence. He married Kay Williamsen on October 6, 1956. Vern graduated from St. Norbert High School in 1949 and St. Norbert College in 1953. He served in the United States Army and the Army Reserve 1953-1963. He was the manager of the Green Bay office of the Internal Revenue Service and upon retirement worked for the accounting firm of Jonet and Fountain (currently Shenck and Associates). Vern was very active at St. Francis Xavier Parish, De Pere, serving as trustee, lector, usher, Eucharistic minister and other volunteer projects. He was a strong proponent of Catholic education, serving on the parent board for both Abbot Pennings High School and St. Norbert College. Aside from spending time with his family, one of his favorite Sunday commitments was being an official statistician for the Green Bay Packers. Vern is survived by his wife, five children and thirteen grandchildren, Ginny (Kelly) Matt and Jenni, Danny, Jon Gigot; Jane (Paul) Schueller; Mark (Heather) Noah, Noelle; Steve (Maria) Sarah, David; Joe (Heidi) Kate, Sam, Shea and Ally, Vinny Dorazio. He is further survived by three brothers, Ed (Mary); Cliff (Shirley); Larry (Chris) his sister, Mary Krautkramer, two brothers’ in-law Jack (Shirley) Williamsen; Jeff (Kathy) Williamsen and two sisters’ in-law, Sue Williamsen and Bern Williamsen as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Vern was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father in-law Millie and Arnold Williamsen, sister and brother in-law Betty (Gary) Bellin, brothers’ in-law Jack Krautkramer and Jim Williamsen. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29th at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave, De Pere with a prayer service concluding the evening at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, January 30, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St., De Pere, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to GRACE (Green Bay Area Catholic Education) or St. Francis Xavier Parish.
