Alfred E. Pearson

August 19, 1926 — February 7, 2014

Alfred Pearson passed away peacefully at home February 7 surrounded by his loving family after a 30 year battle with Parkinson’s. He was born August 19, 1926 to the late Albert and Lilly Pearson in Iron River, Michigan. Al moved to Green Bay in 1938. He graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1944. In July, 1944 Al enlisted in the Army Air Corp and served in Paris, France. He graduated with honors from Michigan Tech in 1950 with an Electrical Engineering degree. Al enjoyed working at Wisconsin Public Service for 38 years starting in Green Bay, then moving to Milwaukee, Wausau, Oshkosh and finally back to his Green Bay roots as Vice President in charge of Rates and Budgets. Al was an avid Packers, Cubs, and Badgers fan, and came to any event that his family members were involved in. Family favorites included the annual trips to Chucky Cheese and Wisconsin Dells to celebrate his birthday and two great trips to Disney World for the whole Pearson Clan. He loved his winters in Florida. While there, he worked at Universal Studios and volunteered at Kids Village for the Make a Wish Foundation. After returning to Green Bay, Al enjoyed his time at the YMCA and the friends he met there. He also enjoyed volunteering at the WPS blood bank. Faith, Family and Friends were at the top of his list. Al was preceded in death by his parents, sisters and brothers in law: Phyllis and Ken Speerschneider and Lucille and Arthur Ross; and lifelong friend Gene Mathews. His is survived by his Wife (and greatest asset), Janet (Van Dyck) Pearson, his children Debbie (Dean) Matzke, Michele (Pat) Knowles, Mark (Linda) Pearson, and Karen (Joe) Zegers, 17 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 3 more on the way.
