Bette Kwitek-Lee

February 28, 1927 — November 24, 2018

Elizabeth “Bette” (Goodchild) Kwitek-Lee, age 91, of Allouez, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018. The daughter of the late Harold and Kathryn (Martin) Goodchild was born February 28, 1927 in Milwaukee. She graduated from Green Bay West High School and attended Carroll College in Waukesha. She married Martin “Bud” Kwitek and together they raised 6 children before he passed away December 18, 1993. She later married Robert E. “Bob” Lee in December of 1994, and he preceded her in death in October of 2009.

Bette loved to travel with her children and her husbands. She was an active member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Allouez for over 64 years supporting many church functions. She volunteered in school libraries, was very active in the Brown County Republican Party, and played in several bridge clubs. She loved to knit and enjoyed swimming at Casey Lake campground near Waupaca. She was a member of the De Pere Antiquarian Society, an avid Brewer and Packer fan, and a long-time member of the Broadview YMCA, where she made many friends.

Family was always first with Bette. She loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She felt blessed to ‘adopt’ the family of her husband Bud and considered them her sisters. She was a dedicated caregiver for her sisters-in-law, her parents, her grandparents and husbands through the end of their lives. She could always find the bright spot in a cloudy day and was pleased to make the happiness of her children and husbands her primary concern. She was a lovely, intelligent, kind woman with a wonderful sense of humor. "Life is good" was her motto.

Survivors include her children: Beth (Andy Schwaegerl) Dufeck, Patty (Bob Brewster) Koehler, Marty (Karen) Kwitek, Cathy Matzke, Carol (Chuck) Groves and Anne Kwitek; grandchildren: Tom (Jodi Johnson) Dufeck, Tricia Dufeck, Alyssa Norenberg, Matt Koehler, Amber (Tom) Milone, Luke Kwitek, Mike (Liz) Matzke, Lauren (Matt) Hamilton, Joe (Allison) Matzke, Claire Matzke, Mason St. Laurent, Faye St. Laurent and Sam Black; great-grandchildren: Trinity Dufeck, Shaina Skaletski, Joey Norenberg, Finn Norenberg, Emma Rose Milone, Will Matzke and Wyatt Hamilton.
