Carol Johanski

October 26, 1939 — October 7, 2023

After a courageous battle with cancer, our dear mother, wife, sister and daughter, Carol Johanski, passed away, Saturday, October 7 at 6pm, The Feast of our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary at the hour of the Angelus. She was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives with the “eternal end” in mind.

Carol was born on Oct. 26, 1939, in Park Ridge, Illinois to Elmyra (Bryce) and James Weber. She moved to Madison as a child and eventually settled in Green Bay. She attended St. Matthew’s grade school and graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in 1957. On July 28, 1962, Carol married Carl Johanski at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. They had three children and seven grandchildren. She devoted her life to raising her children and caring for her husband. She was a strong Catholic, and belonged to Resurrection Catholic Church most of her life, moving to St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in her later years.

Carol had many interests in life. In her earlier years, Carol was an avid tennis player, and belonged to a tennis league. Golf was another of her favorite pastimes. She was especially proud of winning second place in a 9 hole tournament at Oneida Golf and Riding Club. Carol also loved to play bridge, and belonged to a Bridge Club which lasted years with many wonderful neighbors and friends. She had a special talent for playing the piano and could sit down and play anything from memory or by ear. Carol also assisted in running Kaap’s Chocolates with her family. Her artistic decorating skills were enjoyed by many customers throughout the year.

She found her greatest joy in her family. She cherished the smiles of her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She treasured sharing in the lives of her loved ones. She loved cooking and entertaining for Holidays and special events. Shortly before she passed, we asked what her advice would be for life, and she said, “Be true to yourself.” Carol’s passing will only serve to revive her memory for those who knew her, as she will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Carol is survived by her husband, Carl, three children: Jenifer (Brad) of Woodbury MN, Greg (Rachael) of Green Bay, Chris (Cottage Grove, MN) and seven grandchildren: Abigail (Kevin), Katie, Genevieve, Sophia, Elizabeth, Nikolaus, and Mary Jo. She is also survived by her sisters, Janice (Tom) and Maureen, and brothers, Jimmy (Rosa) (Las Vegas), Tommy (Becky) (Florida) and other nieces and nephews.
