Catherine Grassl

Catherine Marie Grassl, age 76 of De Pere, WI, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center, Green Bay, with her family by her side. Cathy was born on March 31, 1948, in Sturgeon Bay to James and Regina Knappen. After graduating from Sturgeon Bay High School, Cathy attended St. Norbert College where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education and met her future husband, Daniel Grassl. Cathy and Dan were united in marriage on May 30, 1970. They made their home in De Pere where they raised their family and created a beautiful life together. Not only was Cathy a beloved elementary educator, but she was also an accomplished quilter who shared her knowledge, skills, and beautiful works of art with those she loved. She was also a devoted grandmother who loved her grandchildren immensely and would read to them every chance she would get. Simply put, she made the world better. 

Cathy was preceded in death by her husband, Dan. She is survived by their children: Erin and Brad and their children Elliott and Stella; Dan and Andie and their children Garrett, Graham, and Luke; and Shannon and Susan and their children Charlie, Ellie, and Lola. 

Cathy’s life was celebrated during a private family service. Her family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Aurora for the wonderful care given to Cathy, as well as her loving extended family and friends who gave their assistance over the last several months. Cathy will be missed.
