Debra "Debbie" Winnekens

October 31, 1956 — November 12, 2017

Debra Ann “Debbie” Winnekens, age 61, of Denmark, passed away Sunday evening, November 12, 2017. The daughter of Joseph and Mary (Horkman) Pieschek was born October 31, 1956 in Green Bay. She married Gerald (Butch) Winnekens on October 29, 1977 at SS Cyril and Methodius Church in Eaton, and together they shared 40 years of marriage. Debbie and Butch owned Whitetail Lodge for 39 years; she especially loved opening weekend of deer hunting, hunting stories and trophy bucks. Halloween was her favorite holiday, she loved seeing everyone in their costumes and made sure enough treats were given. She loved to cook, can, and bake; anyone who would stop in would never leave with an empty stomach! She also loved gardening, making sure her yard and her children’s yard looked beautiful. She loved to spend time with her grandkids cooking, baking, coloring eggs at Easter, and seeing the kids off to the bus. They always enjoyed going to grandmas to get spoiled with treats. Debbie wasn’t just loved by the grandkids, she was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend, and was also fond of the family dog, Jax. Survivors include her husband, Gerald; children: Jerry (Lisa), Brian (Samantha), Mary (Kurt) Guns and Sarah; grandchildren: Olivia, Mariah and Hunter Winnekens, Kylie and Tyson Guns; siblings: Betty (Rodney) Wessley, Ken (Sharon) Pieschek, Joe (Betty) Pieschek, Karen Nelsen and Dennis (Debbie) Pieschek; Gerald’s siblings: Charles (Marilyn) Winnekens, Jeanne (Dennis) DeWane, Andrew (Monica) Winnekens; many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary; in-laws: Margaret and Lawrence Winnekens, and in-laws Bobby Winnekens, Richard Winnekens, Robert Winnekens, June Winnekens and Dorothy Winnekens, Joe Nelsen, and a nephew Jacob Winnekens. Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home-Denmark Chapel, 536 County Rd R, Denmark, on Thursday, November 16, from 3pm until 6:30pm with a prayer service to conclude the evening. Visitation will continue on Friday morning at the funeral home from 9:30am until 10:30am. Friends are then asked to meet at All Saints Catholic Church for an 11:00am Mass of Christian Burial. Our family would like to thank County Rescue and the E.R. Staff at Aurora BayCare Medical Center for their compassionate care. Goodbyes are not forever, Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I’ll miss you Until we meet again.
