Donald "Don" Dorsch

May 11, 1934 — March 15, 2021

Donald “Don” R. Dorsch
Don, 86, passed away Monday March 15th, 2021 after a long struggle with Alzheimers. He was born to Robert and Marie Dorsch May 11, 1934 in Winona, MN. Don was the middle child of three children. He graduated from St. Mary's college in Winona, Minnesota after having served 2 years in the U.S. Army.
He married the love of his life, Marilyn Nugent, in 1958 whom he had met at St. Mary’s sister school St. Theresa’s college in Winona, MN. Upon graduation, he started his career with Watkins,a local company with a national reach. He was a regional sales director for 5 years and was transferred numerous times. All 4 of their boys, Pete, Mike, Chris, and Dan were born in different states. After the last move Don and Marilyn had enough of corporate transfers. He found a job with the Ford Motor Company in Milwaukee where he worked for 6 years. Don was involved in the sale of Ford vehicles to Ford Dealers throughout the state of Wisconsin.
In 1970,  Don and Marilyn had the opportunity to purchase Bernie Canney Ford in DePere. He could not afford the dealership by himself, so he partnered himself with Don Yineman and formed Yineman-Dorsch Ford in 1970. They remained partners until 1985 when Don bought out Don Yineman. Don was an entrepreneur in every sense of the word. He worked long hours, reinvented the dealership through the downturns and recessions and continued to grow the business with all four of his sons now active in the dealership-Pete, Mike, Chris and Dan. He retired in 1999 after the dealership moved to the east side of Green Bay to its present location.
Don was a strong, passionate man. He believed strongly in his family and faith. He held strong opinions which grounded him and made him and his family who they are today. A person always knew where Don stood on an issue.
In retirement, he continued his love of boating and enjoying life with his wife Marilyn at the cottage in Ephraim and their condo in Bonita Springs, FL. They were inseparable throughout their 62 years of marriage. He was a generous man who gave generously to deserving people and non profit organizations.
Don is survived by his wife Marilyn, his sons Pete(Aliece), Mike(Mary), Chris(Phornarin) and Dan(Barb), 7 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Marie, his younger brother Robert and his older sister Marlene.
There will be a small family only service at this time, followed by a celebration of life gathering in about 2 months to remember Don. Details will be forthcoming.
