Donald J Macco

Donald J. Macco passed away on January 22, 2015 at Addolorata Villa in Wheeling, IL. He was born on August 28, 1921 in Green Bay, WI. For elementary school, he attended the country, one-room Brick School and was the first student from that school to go on to high school and college. He graduated from Green Bay East high school in 1941. Don spent 6 years in the Navy during WWII and was stationed in the Pacific. Following his discharge, he attended Bowling Green State University in Ohio, and graduated from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL with a degree in Accounting and where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. On October 16, 1948 he married Ruth Ann Kuypers at St. Mary Catholic Church in De Pere, WI and they lived in De Pere for over 60 years. Don worked in the Purchasing Dept. of Fort Howard Paper Company in Green Bay. He and his wife were Lay Associates of the Norbertine Order for 25 years. In their retirement, Don and Ruth enjoyed spending winters in Naples, FL, enjoying the sunshine. He was preceded in death by his parents, to the late John and Marie (Fabry) Macco. Don is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruth, children Stephen Maccaux, Bloomfield, CO, Virginia (David) Rickert, Appleton, WI, and Barbara (Christopher) Hogan, Deerfield, IL. Also by his grandchildren Matthew and Monica Maccaux, Paul and Eric Rickert, Heidi Mihalik, Bridget and Colleen Hogan, and 7 great-grandchildren, his sisters Mary Lou Todd and Joan Karnopp, his brother James Macco, and his sister the late Dorothy Jane Cappelle. A visitation will be held at Resurrection Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Green Bay, WI 54301, Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 10:00 am until time of funeral mass 11:00 am. Inurnment private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Norbertine Abbey, 1016 N Broadway, De Pere, WI 54115 or to Resurrection Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Green Bay, WI 54301.
