Ed Louis Meyer, Jr

Edward Louis Meyer, Jr., age 83, of Ledgeview, passed away September 4, 2021 at a local hospital. He was born February 1, 1938, in Green Bay, the son of Edward Louis Meyer, Sr and Ursula (Lauerman) Meyer. After attending Premontre High School, he graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1960. On November 24, 1962 he married Joan Gardipee who proceeded him in death. He later married Mary Ellen (Daanen) Troup on August 2, 2013. His favorite pastimes included: cooking, traveling, golf and a newfound interest in Jeopardy.

Ed was an accomplished professional and President of Anamax Corporation, which was founded by his great-grandfather in 1881 as Green Bay Soap Company. During his tenure, he expanded the business in many ways including exporting tallow and fats. Professionally, he was a member and served as an officer of many rendering and fats associations. His community involvement included serving on boards for: Green Bay Symphony, Green Bay Community Theatre, St. Norbert President’s Board of Trustees, St. Mary’s Hospital Advisory Council, Boy’s and Girl’s Clubs of Green Bay, M&I Bank Corporate Board, American Medical Systems and United Bankshares, Inc.

In addition to his many professional and philanthropic accomplishments, Ed always made time for and treasured his family. He is missed by his wife Mary Ellen Troup; children, Kristin Meyer, Michelle (Jeff) Conte and Nicholas Meyer; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Emma, Ashley and Nicholas Conte; brother, John (Mary Ann) Meyer; 5 sisters, Sue (Alan) Hubbard, Ursula (Bill) Thomasma, Mary (Don) Coover, Catherine (Tom) Tracy, and Theresa (Dante) Kobek; as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Richard and George Gardipee and Suzanne (Brian) Moore. In addition, Ed was proud to welcome in three step-children, Wilson (Diana Rigas) Troup, Kathryn (Mike) Limoni and Michael (Sarah) Troup; step-grandchildren, Brandon and Amanda Limoni, Kendall, Jenson and Andie Troup.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan (Gardipee) Meyer.

Family and friends may gather to celebrate Ed’s life at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez, on Friday, September 10, with visitation from 9:30am until 11:00am. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30am with Fr. Tom Reynebeau officiating. Burial will be in the Allouez Cemetery. The mass will also be livestreamed at gbres.org/live
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: St. John’s Homeless Shelter or Green Bay Botanical Garden.
