Eva Ann Baker

Eva went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 25, 2024. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends while listening to her favorite show, Bluey.

Eva was an energetic, sweet-tempered, fun-loving girl, who loved everything 9-year-olds do, but especially her twin brother, Daniel whom she shared many adventures with. Her favorite color was purple, and she loved Dove chocolates, Twizzlers, buttered noodles, and every activity she attempted whether it was dancing, horseback riding, Tae Kwon Do, four-wheeling, jumping at the trampoline park, wall-climbing, swimming, backyard zip-lining, even playing video games with Daniel, just to name a few. Her little giggle was so very contagious, and she loved life. 

Eva’s biggest passion was animals. She wanted to rescue just about any one she came across whether they needed it or not. She adored her two cats, Deedee and Dexter, her dog Duke, her five goldfish, and 40 chickens. Eva wanted to pet every dog she would see, but always asked if she could first. The family visited the New Zoo and Wildlife Sanctuary often. Her favorite animal was the snow leopard, but she surely had a few dozen others. Her love of stuffed animals, or “stuffies,” was evident in her room which was full of them, a collection appreciated by her parents (no feeding!).

Eva loved sleepovers at Grandma’s house with Daniel and enjoyed weekly dinners there together. She was also a very talented artist and would often bring Grandma a box of drawings on her visits. Her favorite things to draw were cat faces and on holidays Eva would create place cards for everyone at the table.

Eva and Daniel were homeschooled. The family has a very strong Christian faith, and both kids finished their Awana studies this year. She loved all the field trips and playdates with other homeschool families.

In February 2024, Eva was diagnosed with a pediatric high-grade glioma (brain tumor). After her diagnosis, she started a very extensive Lego collection (the complicated ones) and became exceptionally good at assembling them. During her brief illness, she rarely complained.

We are extremely grateful to our loving families, friends, the De Pere community, and Cotter Funeral Home for the generosity you all have shown. We could not have gotten through this battle without any of you. We are so very humbled by the outpouring of love and support.

We would also like to thank all the amazing nurses and doctors at Children’s Wisconsin Hospital in Milwaukee and St. Vincent Children’s Hospital, as well as the Compassus Hospice nurses.

Eva is survived by her parents, Kenneth James Baker (Adamek) and Hilary Ann Baker of Green Bay, and twin brother, Daniel James Baker; Grandmother, Jill (Skaja) Baker, De Pere; Uncle Kevin Baker and Aunt Lauren (Higgins) Baker, with cousins, Lily Higgins, Macy Baker, Hadley Baker, and Rori Baker, De Pere; Grandparents, David and Ruth Adamek, Milwaukee; Aunt Kim Adamek, Milwaukee; cousins, Ellie Burns and Tony Burns, Milwaukee; as well as extended Baker, Skaja, Higgins, and Willems families. Eva was preceded in death by her grandfather, Dan Baker. 

Eva’s celebration of life will be held at Bethel Baptist Church, 1601 Libal Street, in Green Bay, on Saturday, September 7, 2024. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with services at 11 a.m. and a luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers and to honor Eva, we request you bring one small stuffed animal, a “stuffie,” which will be later donated to Milwaukee Children’s Hospital and St. Vincent Children’s Hospital. If you would like to make Eva even happier, wear your favorite animal-print attire to her celebration.
