Evelyn Hanson

October 29, 1934 — June 21, 2024

Evelyn Hanson, 89, passed away on June 21, 2024. She was born on October 29, 1934 to Frank and Johanna Bialek. She embraced life as an Air Force wife, raising three children across the U.S., including Wyoming, Hawaii (where she won a hula dancing competition), and California. She had a career as an executive secretary, working on base while her husband served, and at the Old Kendall Company and Trinity Lutheran Church when they settled in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Evelyn was the matriarch of the family and loved to decorate and host for holidays and family events. When she wasn’t attending her grandchildren’s concerts and sports, baking them birthday cakes, hosting their sleepovers, or teaching them Polish words and songs, she was gardening, shopping and garage sale hopping, adding to her movie collection, or loudly cheering on the Packers. Music was always playing, coffee was always on, and cookies always filled the cookie jar, ready for her family to drop-in at any time (and they did!). She looked forward to annual trips to Florida with her husband, Marvin Sr. She was short in stature but big in spark-like energy, and she was Polish Tough!

Mom is survived by her children: son Marvin Jr. (Brenda) Hanson and her daughter Brittany (Missy), daughters Cindy (Dale) Larson and Laurie Ann (Gary) Zehms; grandchildren Lee Hanson, Anna (Clark) DeQuaine, Jason Hanson, Drew (EJ) Miller-Larson, Libbi (Colin) Burke, Hannah (Luke) Argall, Tabitha (Kyle Vande Slunt) Zehms, Tyann (Emily Vande Slunt) Zehms, Mylee (Travis) Lippman; great-grandchildren River, Robin, Bodie, Marty, Felix, Lumin, Ethan, Cody, Evie, and Harlow.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 62 years Marvin Sr., brother Lawrence and sister Grace, and grandson Jacob Cody Hanson-Zehms.

Private services were held.

A special thank you to the caretakers at Angel’s Touch for their love and compassion, and to Unity Hospice.
