Florence "Jensen" Anderson

Florence Evelyn (Jensen) Anderson, Green Bay, went to be with her Savior on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. Florence was born in Denmark, Wisconsin, on December 8, 1916, to the late John and Ella (Nielsen) Jensen. She graduated from Denmark High School with the class of 1936. Florence married Maynard Anderson on June 8, 1939, who preceded her in death on September 16, 1996, and they enjoyed 56 years together. The first time they saw each other, she was riding on a float in the Denmark parade. All the memories of the challenges of those homestead days, farming and raising a family, have been written in her many journals. Florence had found her true calling as a devoted wife and mother, dependable friend and neighbor, who always had the time to listen, encourage and comfort. Florence relocated to the Bellevue Retirement Community in 2005, and loved meeting and getting to know lots of new friends. Her hobbies included Blue Ribbon award-winning needlework and quilts, playing cards, writing short stories and reading. Florence was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church—she particularly enjoyed the quilting circle and the Bible Study. Florence is survived by her children: Rosie Anderson (aka, Doris), Ronald (Delores), Kathleen Matis, Linda VanderKinter (John), Roy (Becky), Glenn (Judy), Leon (Connie), Dale (Barb), Donald (Karen); 26 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Edna Hansen (Nelson). In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy (Smith); son, John; daughter, Christine (Larsen); grandsons: Darrin Smith, Doug Larsen, and Drew Matis; four brothers-in-law; and five sisters-in-law. Florence was a ray of sunshine to all who knew her, and her sweet spirit and wonderful sense of humor will live on through the lives of those of us who loved her so dearly. Family and friends may call on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, 536 Cty R, Denmark. Visitation will continue of Saturday, April 12, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Denmark, with the Rev. Andrew Zoerb officiating.
