Germaine "Geri" M. Bellamy

March 22, 1927 — January 31, 2021

Germaine (Geri) M. Bellamy, beloved mother and retired nurse, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021. She was 93 years old.
Geri was a lifelong reader who loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as her wonderful extended family. She was born Germaine Marian Pritzl in 1927, in Clarks Mills, WI, to parents Renata and Joseph Pritzl. Her earliest memories were of life on the family dairy farm with her four brothers and sister. Her travels in life eventually brought her to the Twin Cities of Minneapolis. There she met the love of her life, Vince Bellamy. They married and relocated to Marlboro, NJ, where she raised a family of five boys.
In 1979, Vince and Geri returned to Wisconsin to be closer to her family in De Pere. Geri embarked on yet another adventure as a nurse, receiving an Associate Degree in practical nursing from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in 1982. Her first nursing job was working the late-night shift at St. Vincent Hospital. After retiring from that job, she took a position as caregiver to respirator-dependent children at the Paddington Station home in Green Bay. She always referred to her patients at Paddington as “my kids.”
Early in 2000, Geri retired to enjoy more time with her husband. When Vince passed away in 2005, Geri did her best to keep busy. She enjoyed volunteering, and visiting with friends and family. She also had the loving companionship of two successive “Gingers;” the cutest little poodle mixes you would ever want to have on your lap. As life continued and her mobility lessened, she was comforted and cared for by her close family members, especially her niece Mary Thoele, the daughter of her dear sister, Joan Janssen, who preceded her in death.
Geri is survived by her children, Joseph “Jody” (Effie) Gilpin, John “Flip” (Carol) Gilpin, Jim (Jayne) Gilpin, Jeffrey (Linda) Gilpin and Bob (Pegge) Bellamy; grandchildren Joseph Gilpin Jr., Michael (Gretchen) Gilpin, Kilen Gilpin (Pawel Gago), Lindsey Chelini (Rico), Molly (Jason) Hatfield, Andrew Bellamy, Sarah Bellamy, Melissa Bellamy, Amanda “Amy” Gilpin, Joseph “Joey” Gilpin; and seven great-grandchildren, as well as brothers Gordon (Alice) Pritzl and Frank (Jean) Pritzl, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Geri in death were her parents Joseph and Renata Pritlz; husband, Vince; brothers Ray Pritzl and Cal Pritzl; and sister, Joan (Roger) Janssen.
The family would like to thank the staff on 7th floor at St. Vincent Hospital and Unity Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to Geri during her final days.
Relatives and friends may gather at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, 139 S. Madison Street, Green Bay, on Thursday, February 4, 2021 for visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. with Msgr. Jim Feely officiating.
The funeral Mass will be streamed live and can be viewed online. Google search: “Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care Facebook.” (You do not need to have a Facebook account.)
