Giles E. Kane, 82, died peacefully on Monday, November 29, 2010 at Unity Hospice in De Pere after a three year battle with cancer. He was born January 16, 1928 in the Town of Morrison to the late Michael and Elizabeth (Long) Kane. He married Doris Cohen on October 5, 1949 in Maple Grove and she preceded him in death on December 4, 1996. On September 19, 1998, he married his second wife, Mary (Schumacher) Cohen. Giles farmed until 1975, but continued to work in the excavating business with his last employer being Bielinski Excavating of Denmark until his time of retirement. Giles greatly enjoyed driving the caterpillar and backhoe and did a lot of excavating for farmers in the Denmark area over the years. He enjoyed seeing his grandchildren and liked playing cards with his family. He was a member of St. Mary’s of Stark Parish. Along with his wife, Mary, he is survived by four children and their spouses: Judy (Donald) Krejcarek, Denmark, Mary (Randy) Reed of Worland, WY, Colleen (Tom) Dworak, Denmark, and Andrew (Vickie) Kane, Denmark; ten grandchildren: Dr. Sheila (Jason) Kittel, Christopher (Brenda) Krejcarek, Brian Krejcarek, Eric, Michael and Joel Reed, Brandon and Danielle Dworak, and Emily and Evan Kane; three great-grandchildren: Amber and Brady Kittel and Khloe Krejcarek. He is further survived by two sisters: Elizabeth Denor, Wayside, and Agatha Lensmire of Two Rivers; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bernard and Joyce Cohen, Denmark; a sister-in-law, Dolores Kane, Denmark; and many nieces, nephews, and Mary’s family. In addition to his parents and his first wife, Doris, he was preceded in death by five brothers: Charles, Jerome, Michael, John Leo, and Gordon Kane. Family and friends may call at Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, 536 Cty R, Denmark, on Friday, December 3, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., where there will be a Parish Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Stark, from 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. with Fr.
