Heidi Kuepper Mattson, 80, passed away at home after a short battle with pneumonia. She was born November 3, 1943 in Harz Mountains in Germany to the late Anna and William Kuepper. 

On June 25th, 1966, Heidi married her piano playing love, Jim Mattson, after his graduation from Northwestern University Medical School. The two moved frequently between 1966-1974 from Washington D.C. for Jim’s internship into Chicago for Jim’s residency where they welcomed their eldest son Thomas. Then off to Okinawa, Japan as Jim served as a physician in the United States Army. After returning they lived in Los Angeles where Jim did a residency at UCLA and they welcomed their daughter Nancy. Jim purchased a medical practice that specialized in Asthma & Allergy in Green Bay in 1974. In 1981 they welcomed their son Andrew. The biggest joy of Heidi’s life was being a mother to her three children.

Heidi was involved in several charitable organizations throughout the years including: Brown County Medical Society, Service League of Green Bay, PEO chapter AV & fundraising for the Opera. She endlessly listen to classical music, Andrea Bocelli, Pavarotti, cooking & watching the Green Bay Packers with her family.

We would like to thank our family and friends for their support the past 3 years after Heidi’s stroke. Our family would also like to thank the staff at Aurora BayCare Medical Center & the caregivers from Cornerstone Caregiving. We would especially like to thank Dr. Chen for his care and compassion.

Heidi is survived by her children, Thomas Mattson and Nancy Mattson (Patrick Szalanski), her sister: Marliese Romaneck, Brother-in-law Ken Clark (Kathy), Nieces and Nephews: Gregory Romaneck (Jane), Laura Sullivan (Frank), Steve Mattson (Lisa), Melinda Mattson, Ryan Clark (Breanna), Matthew Clark (Hannah Agnes) and her loving Sophie. 

Heidi is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jim, her son, Andrew, parents, Anna and William Kuepper, In-Laws, Gladys and Floyd Clark and Cyrus Mattson, Sister, Erica Striebeck, Brother-in-laws, George Romaneck, Merle Mattson, Sister-in-law, Sandy Mattson, Uncle Dick Lawrence. Her good friends, Carol Schmidt, Patty Geocaris, Bonnie Granius, Ursula Rathie, Father Gary Meehan etc … Sammy, Maddy, Saddie & Abbott.

A private Christian burial will be held at Allouez Catholic Cemetery on Tuesday, October 29th. A Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, October 29th from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at the Village Grille on Hoffman Road, Allouez. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Heidi’s name to the Andrew Mattson Memorial Scholarship at Notre Dame Academy of Green Bay or to the Brain Center of Green Bay.
