Irene J. (Wanek) Steinfeldt

Irene J. Steinfeldt, age 103, of De Pere, passed away, May 21, 2017. She was born, September 19, 1913, in Denmark, Wis., to the late Frank and Mary (Wanish) Wanek. After attending grade school and high school, she moved to Green Bay. On July 24, 1937, she married Frank Krautkramer at St. Willebrord Catholic Church, and they made their home in Wrightstown. Following a heart attack, Frank passed away June 5, 1962. In July 1963, she moved to De Pere and joined Green Bay Savings and Loan, which later became First Northern Savings Bank. She served as a teller and was later elected to corporate secretary and vice-president. On Aug. 22, 1970 she married Warren Steinfeldt who also preceded her in death. Irene enjoyed flowers, crafts, quilting, was an avid reader and Packers Fan. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in De Pere and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Survivors include her children: Tom (Jan) Krautkramer of Suamico; grandchildren: Mike (Wendy) Krautkramer, Brenda (Jeff) Nelsen, Heidi (John) Johnson, Steve Krautkramer, Kristine (Tim) Seymour, Dawn Krautkramer, Joe (Kristy) Krautkramer; 12 great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law Mary of De Pere and Barbara of New Berlin. In addition to her husbands, Frank and Warren, she was preceded in death by two sons, Frank and Jack Krautkramer; two sisters: Ann Wanek and Estelle Goemans, two brothers: William and James Wanek. Friends may visit at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan Street, De Pere, on Thursday, May 25, from 10:00am until 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Thursday with the Rev. Binu Varghese, O.Praem officiating. Burial in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Wrightstown.
