Iris Ebsch

August 20, 1929 — August 10, 2024

Iris Martha Ebsch, 94, of Green Bay, peacefully went to plant flowers in the eternal garden on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at her home surrounded by family, friends, and her cat, Jax.

Iris Dingeldein was born on her family’s farm on August 20, 1929, in the Town of Lessor, WI, to Frank and Ann (Krueger) Dingeldein. She was one of nine children—four sisters: Pearl (Harold) Hove, Fern (Marvin) Echtner, June Dingeldein, and Marie (James) McCoy; four brothers: Jim (Edna) Dingeldein, Eugene (Edna) Dingeldein, Frank (Gladys) Dingeldein, and Max (Carol) Dingeldein.

She married her sweetheart, Donald (Don) Ebsch, on February 26, 1949. They raised their daughter Christine Taylor (Ebsch) in Amherst, WI. Iris was also a foster mother to four beautiful children while in Amherst.

Iris was a woman of many talents and passions. She worked as a teachers’ aide in the Tomorrow River School District and a layout artist for Palmer Publications, both in Amherst. She was an actress, artist, gardener, and animal lover. She enjoyed spending time at her and Don’s cabin in Door County, WI, often alongside her sister Marie and brother-in-law James (Jimmy).

She was tremendously proud of her grandchildren, Dr. Nicholas Taylor (Casey Paulozzi) and Dr. Natalie Taylor (Katie Betry). In 1999, Don and Iris moved to Green Bay to better support Nicholas’ and Natalie’s music and athletic endeavors, respectively. Iris continued to love them and their spouses unconditionally and was delighted by the lives they had built.

Iris will be remembered by her daughter and grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She has joined her husband, parents, siblings, and a gathering of friends in heaven.

We will honor Iris on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Cotter Funeral Home in De Pere, WI. Relatives and friends may greet the family at the funeral home at 10:00AM until the time of the service at 11:00AM. We encourage attendees to wear blue, Iris’ favorite color.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nurses and caregivers of Unity Hospice, Cornerstone Caregiving, and Rennes Health & Rehab Center; as well as her friends who have loved and graciously cared for Iris over the years including—but certainly not limited to—Alina, Christie, Cindy, Ellen, Heidi and Tucker, Kaitlin, Marilyn, and Steve.
