Irma Ida (Rosin) Scheibe

August 16, 1916 — July 14, 2013

Irma Ida (Rosin) Scheibe, age 96, Wrightstown, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Parkview Manor. She was born August 16, 1916 in Wrightstown, WI, daughter to the late Albert and Elsie (Zuehlke) Rosin. Irma attended Wrightstown Public Schools, and was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran School. She worked at Wymelenberg’s Family Grocery Store (now Dick’s Family Foods) until her marriage to Walter Carl Scheibe on May 22, 1941, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wrightstown. Irma and Walter worked together to have a successful dairy farm and award winning cattle located in the Town of Lawrence. They received an award for their work on restoring and volunteering at the Miller-Wright Historical Home in Wrightstown. When they retired from the farm they moved into a new home built right next door to the grade school which they were instrumental in getting built (St. John’s). They loved to watch the kids during recess and were always retrieving balls that came over the fence! There was always plenty of food available for anybody who just dropped in to visit and cards were always played! She loved unannounced visitors who always came into a spotless home and let’s not forget those Special K bars! Irma was a member of several ladies card clubs after Walter’s death in 1985. She loved to travel and especially those trips to places of historical significance in the Midwest and on the east coast. Her granddaughter, Kati, came to live with her to attend Fox Valley Lutheran High School and Irma remarked that she didn’t know she would be doing Driver’s Ed and braces at her “advanced” age, a sense of humor was always there. Don’t know who loved those sleepovers more: her or the girls! Irma will be deeply missed by her daughter, MaryAnn (Ernest) Glazer; son, Richard (Patty) Scheibe; grandchildren: Kati “Kate” DeSmidt, John Jentz, Samuel Scheibe, Rebekah (John) McShane, Hannah (Mike) Cornell, and Isaac Scheibe; great-grandchildren: Austin, Wyatt, and Mia DeSmidt, and Elliot McSchane; sister, Irene Scheibe; sisters-in-law: Cordell Rosin, Marie Rosin, and Ruth Rosin; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Irma was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Carl Scheibe; son, Marlin Carl Scheibe; sister and brother-in-law, Inez (Harvey) Zittlow Maves; and brothers: Oscar, Melvin, Harold, Robert, Lester, and Irvin Rosin; and sister-in-law, Geraldine Rosin. Family and friends may call Wednesday, July 17, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere. Visitation will continue on Thursday at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Wrightstown, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 10:00 a.m., with the Rev. Matthew Vik and Irma’s nephew, Rev. Paul Zittlow, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. Memorials may be directed to: Fox Valley Lutheran High School, Appleton, The Alzheimer’s Assoc., or St. Mark’s Lutheran School’s Tuition Fund in Green Bay. The family wants to thank Heartland Hospice and Parkview Manor for Irma’s care, and to all who expressed their condolences during this time.
