James D. “Mr. K” Kolarik, 65, Denmark, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at his home. He was born May 12, 1944 in Denmark, son of the late William and Genevieve (Mencheski) Kolarik. Jim married Bev Staudinger on April 30, 1966 in Reedsville, and have remained close friends. He grew up on the family farm and was a lifelong farmer, and worked for Ziese Construction as a Mason, helping construct the Denmark High School. Jim was a cattle and livestock dealer for many years and was know for his honesty and integrity. For ten years he operated Mr. K’s Tavern in Denmark. Jim also worked for Titletown Construction with his buddy, Hoss, and the past four years were spent working with his son, Mark, and daughter-in-law, Missy. Mr. K loved to go to Vegas and play cards with Phyllis Diller, John Wayne, and Anne Margaret. Jim had taken 64 trips to Vegas throughout his life. He recently took first place at a Sheepshead Tournament at Circle Tap. Jim loved to make everyone happy. He will be deeply missed by his five children: Kevin (special friend, Leslie Jurczykowski) Kolarik, Denmark, Mark (Missy) Kolarik, Denmark, Kristin (Gary) Hoefs, Greenleaf, Susan (Mike) Suemnick, Green Bay, Jimmy (fiancé-Kate Gilson) Kolarik, Green Bay; eight grandchildren: Courtney and Riley, Marcus, Madilyn, and Mason, and Cassie and Kyle, Patrick; brothers and sisters: Rudy (Jeanette) Kolarik, Phyllis (David) Oakes, Jerry Kolarik, Gary (Linda) Kolarik, Tom Kolarik, Danny Kolarik; special friends, Brenda Melnarik, Bill Enz, Nora Olson, Larry the Legend; and many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; Bev’s parents, Leonard and Caroline Staudinger; a grandson, Adam Jurczykowski; a special aunt, Irene; aunt, Rosalie; and an uncle, Aloyis. Family and friends may call Sunday, April 18, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, 536 Cty R, Denmark, where there will be a Parish Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of Mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, New Denmark. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Monday at church, with Fr. Ron Colombo officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
