Our Mother, Janet Swoboda, died peacefully Monday, two days shy of her 80th birthday from complications of the flu. She was born January 17, 1938 in Thiry Dames, Wisconsin to Elmer and Josie Naze. On August 22, 1959 she married Gary Swoboda in Lincoln, Wisconsin. She lived the last 28 years courageously battling Parkinson's Disease. Mom was a kind, gentle soul with a big smile and a humble heart, never complaining and always thinking of everyone else. She was the greatest mother and the best 'Grandma Jan' ever. While raising her children, she waitressed and was a secretary at Kaukauna High School. Her time was best spent with her grandkids biking, skiing, rollerblading, sledding on the big hill, and traveling with her siblings. Her faith was important to her. She taught religious education and was a member of the Ladies Society. Mom spent her last 4 years at Helen's House, the best home she could have had other than her own. To Nurse Kelly, Meghan, and Little Kelly, who were with Mom from the beginning, you were her daughters when we couldn't be there. For all who provided care, compassion and support through her journey, we are forever grateful. If you know a CNA, thank them today! Mom, you are finally home with Tim and your loved ones in heaven. Survivors include her children: Jeff (Kathy) Swoboda, Dean (Terri) Swoboda, Lisa (Rick) Kamps, Rod Swoboda (friend Nicole), Terrie (Patrick) Sanders; grandchildren: Sarah (John) Forestell, Craig (Gracey) Kamps, Sara Jane (Jeremy) Nisewonger, Kristin (Kelly) O'Connell, Bill (Janine) Swoboda, Kyle Kamps (friend Kristin), Rachel (Marcus) Collison, Elise (Kim) Ihler, Matthew Swoboda, Rhianna Sanders, Christopher Ihler, Casey Swoboda (friend Katlin), PJ Sanders; great-grandchildren: Nico, Madeline, Lilly, Rebecca and Bella Rose; brother Aaron (Carol) Naze, sisters Yvonne Gigot and Mary Kalies, sisters-in-law Pat Flippo, Jackie (Bob) Fameree, Bev (Dennis) Langteau.
