John Beck, 63, Ashwaubenon, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2011. John was born May 29, 1947 in New Brunswick, NJ to the late Frank and Pluma (Overholser) Beck. John spent his high school years at The Community School, an international school in Tehran, Iran. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Stanford University and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. John and his wife Mary Schneider were married in 1980, in Madison, WI. John was a member of the St. Norbert College staff for over 17 years as the Director of Computer Services. He greatly appreciated the efforts and accomplishments of his team within the department. John enjoyed the fellowship of his Mankind men’s group and of the Unity Church of Christianity. He also refereed ice hockey and really enjoyed getting out on his skates. John was a bird-watcher, loved to travel – planes, cars and motorcycles - and in quiet moments would pick up his guitar. John is survived by his wife, Mary, their daughter Erin and son-in-law Eric Tucker; his grandchildren Kaitlyn and Alexander Tucker, also by his siblings: Paul Beck, Julie Beck-Berman, and Sasha (Beck) Kariel, and by his nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call Tuesday, March 15, 2011 from 2 to 4pm at Old St. Joseph’s Church on the St. Norbert College Campus. There will be a Memorial service for John at St. Joseph’s at 4pm with Fr. James T. Baraniak O.Praem and April Kain-Breese, LUT officiating. Cotter Funeral Home, De Pere, is assisting the family. John will be greatly missed by family and friends but his life has been a light to many.
