Mark Kenneth Dart was born May 31, 1957, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was born to Louis Dart Jr. and Mary Anne Dart (Policky). During his lifetime, he lived in 8 states and 2 European countries growing up as a military brat. Graduating from East Butler High School in Brainard, NE and then Wilma Boyd airline school in 1975, he began his career in the aviation industry where he made lasting impressions and life long friends. Mark unconditionally loved his wife Karyn, daughter Ashley, and sons Jacob, Michael, and Shaun, as well as his 5 grandchildren.
Mark started playing baseball in Spain (where his dad was stationed) and became a catcher with the nickname “Yogi”. He grew into an all-star in baseball and then an all-state football player at East Butler HS, never losing his love of sports. He enjoyed watching his kids play sports and participate in activities. His daughter Ashley even followed in his footsteps by playing catcher throughout high school. HIs grandson now continues the tradition as well.
Mark worked in the airline industry for his entire career, ultimately retiring from Delta Airlines as Station Manager in Omaha, Nebraska in 2019. Surely to only his surprise, he was nominated and won station manager of the year in 2017. While in this industry he made lifelong friends and provided nonstop entertainment to those around him. He would be excited to tell his kids when a pro wrestler was on board that day or when an athlete was flying out. He wouldn’t be opposed to embarrassing his kids at the same time asking for an autograph. Mark was just a friendly guy who talked to everyone.
Mark enjoyed playing card games (Buck) and watching football (avid Green Bay Packer fan). He was truly a kid at heart, always seeing the positive in everything. Family was everything to Mark. He was a member of Resurrection Catholic Parish in Green Bay, Wisconsin. On April10,1999, Mark Kenneth Dart married Karyn Aleen Dart (Jacobs). Mark and Karyn met in Green Bay, Wisconsin. They spent many years in Gretna, NE raising their 3 sons and were able to be near Mark’s oldest daughter and lucky enough to be close to lots of family.
Mark had been battling a rare pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer since 2006. There is no doubt that his positive attitude and sheer will to see all of his kids graduate contributed to his long survival. His ability to beat the odds were deemed remarkable by all those around him. Mark fought hard for as long as his body allowed. He died peacefully with his family by his side on March 24, 2025, at 2:09 pm.
Mark is survived by his wife Karyn Dart (Jacobs), daughter Ashley Tanner (Dart), of Lincoln, NE, sons Jacob Dart (Green Bay, WI), Michael Dart (Omaha, NE), Shaun Dart and fiancé Stephanie Barnhardt (Gretna, NE); siblings Pam DeVine (Bee, NE), Mike Dart (Green Bay, WI), Bruce & Denise Dart (Tulsa, OK), Patty & Ken Imig (Seward, NE), Brian & Laura Dart (Gretna, NE), and Roxy Dart and fiancé Michael Abbott (Christianstad, St. Croix, USVI); mother in law, Bonnie Jacobs, sisters in law, Julie (Jay) Boettge and Mary (David) VanderSteeg as well as countless cousins, nieces, and nephews; and lastly, the apple of his eye, his 4 grandchildren, Easton, Jax, Kash, and Liliana Tanner (Lincoln, NE).
Mark was preceded in death by his parents Louis Dart Jr. & Mary Anne Dart (Policky) of Bee, NE. Sister Deborah Odvody (Dart) of Seward, NE. Father in law Dick Jacobs of Green Bay, WI. Brother in law Mike Jacobs of Green Bay, WI, and grandson Aedan Tanner of Lincoln, NE
