Mark Lewis Hendricks

September 23, 1921 — April 6, 2021

Mark L Hendricks, 99, passed away Tuesday April 6, 2021 at Angel’s Touch Assisted Living. He was born September 23, 1921 to Elizabeth and Herbert Hendricks and lived his entire life in De Pere.
He attended St. Mary grade school and De Pere High School until sophomore year, leaving high school to work on Uncle Pete’s farm until he was drafted into the Army. He served as a medic in Medical Corp. Co. B and was assigned in the European theater during WWII.
He married Ruth De Groot July 1, 1950 and together they enjoyed 60 years of marriage. Mark was a member of St Mary Catholic Community and volunteered regularly at St Vincent De Paul. Mark was an avid golfer, playing up to 3 times a week into his late 80’s. As his door sign read “I only play golf on days that end in “Y” with his best score being a 38 at Woodside. Mark also enjoyed his weekly outings to breakfast and the casino with his niece, Linda Metzler.
Survivors include his 4 children, Jeff (Cathy) Hendricks, Mary Beth (Bob) Hollis, Tom (Terry) Hendricks, and Todd (Cathy) Hendricks. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Jessica (Pat) Jones, Aaron (Tara) Hendricks, Mark (Mari) Hendricks, Alex (Jared) Beilke, Sam (Briana) Hollis, Logan (Kim) Hendricks, and five great-grandchildren, Ava, Kate, Wyatt, Monroe and Olivia. He is also survived by his brother Leo (Kate) Hendricks and sister Betty Drewiske, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are wife, Ruth; infant son, Mark; parents, Elizabeth and Herbert; mother and father-in-law, Minnie, Evelyn and Joseph DeGroot.  Brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Angie Hendricks and Frank and Carol Hendricks. Sisters and brothers-in-law, Florence and Woodrow Cullen and Rita and Lawrence Van Straten.  Brothers-in-law Roland Bullion, Roger Drewiske, Dave Denissen; sister-in-law Marilyn Denissen; and 3 nieces, Jackie, Barbara and Donna. Family and friends may visit at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Drive, De Pere, on Friday, April 9, from 1:00pm until 1:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00pm with Fr. Mike Ingold officiating. Full military honors will be accorded after mass and entombment at the Allouez Catholic Chapel Mausoleum. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.
The family would like to thank the Angel’s Touch staff for their care of dad and Compassus Hospice for their kindness and care during dad’s final days. In lieu of flowers, the family will establish a memorial fund in his honor.
