Mary Ellen (Touhey) Christensen

Mary Ellen (Touhey) Christensen passed away November 3rd, 2017 in Boulder, CO. The daughter of Walter and Verna (Dewane) Touhey was born January 3rd, 1933 in Manitowoc, WI. Mary was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy in Green Bay and Holy Family School of Nursing in Manitowoc. On December 28th, 1954, she married, the love of her life, Walton J. Christensen at St. Joseph’s Church in Kellnersville. Mary worked many years as a Registered Nurse. She enjoyed bridge, tennis, learning new things, traveling, her family, and friends. Mary lived life to the fullest, seizing every opportunity for fun. When she decided she wanted something, Mary went for it. She did her first 5K run at 75. Mary was a vibrant, thoughtful, and caring person. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Walt; her daughter Ann, Boulder, CO; her son Dennis (Lee Anne), Reno, NV; grandchildren Shane O’Hara, North Richland Hills, TX, Samantha O’Hara (Mehdi), Irving, TX, and Daniel Christensen, Reno, NV. Mary is further survived by sisters Sr. Patricia Touhey, Manitowoc, WI and Vonnie (Lee) Verkuilen, Maribel, WI; sister-in-law, Gerry Touhey, Manitowoc, WI; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, son David, brothers Ed Touhey and John Touhey, and sister Glenna Touhey. Friends may call at Stark Church, 7016 County Road NN, Denmark from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 11th. The funeral service will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at the church officiated by Monsignor John Dewane. Burial will take place in the Stark Church Cemetery immediately following the service.
