Mary Lou (Garvey) Pacourek

September 25, 1919 — April 8, 2013

Mary Lou Pacourek (Garvey), 93 of Green Bay passed away on Monday, April 8, 2013 at home. She was born September 25, 1919 of Anne Monette Garvey and Joseph Garvey in Antigo, Wisconsin. She was a lifetime member of St Francis Xavier Cathedral, married there on July 13, 1946 to Don Pacourek. She remained very active there while her children were in grade school at the Cathedral and many years after that. She graduated from Green Bay East High School and was still active with her remaining classmates. Mary Lou was very active her whole life, a walker participating in the Bellin Run annually for many years, an avid golfer, involved in real estate, and numerous other organizations in Green Bay. Mary Lou and Don spent many winters in Arizona and Texas with their daughter Ann and grandsons. Survivors include her two children, daughter Ann (Ken) Kiley of Houston, Texas and son John of Casco, her long time friend, Cloyd Watzka and his children, her sister Val Thomas, a sister in law, Dorothy Garvey of Oklahoma City, two brothers in law, Murray Trudell of Green Bay and Kenneth Van of Madison, two grandchildren, Richard and Alex Celli of Houston, Texas, their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Donald, her parents, four sisters, Jane Wieske, Josephine Maltby, June Van, Esther Trudell and two brothers Lloyd Garvey and Vernon Garvey. Visitation will be Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Francis Xavier Cathedral, corner of Madison and Monroe streets, Green Bay, with Fr. John W. Girotti officiating. Cotter Funeral Home and Cremation Service, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. A special thanks go out to all her caregivers especially Cloyd Watzka and his daughters who cared for her for the last few years, her nurses at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Unity Hospice during her last days. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society and/or Paul’s Pantry in Green Bay will be appreciated.
