Randy Sarasin, 74, Green Bay, died peacefully January 23, 2013 following a lengthy affliction of Alzheimer’s and coronary heart disease. Randy, son of the late Russell and Marion (Rasmusson) Sarasin was born September 8, 1938, in Gladstone, Michigan. He graduated from Gladstone High School and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Northern Michigan University in 1965. He married the former Judy Anderley in 1974. They resided their married life in the Green Bay area. Randy was an art teacher and dedicated his life to teaching students how to make and appreciate art. He taught in Michigan and Wisconsin and retired from teaching in 2000 from Chilton Public Schools. Randy loved life and had a carefree, fun attitude. He greatly enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and kite flying. Randy’s artistic nature was reflected in his pastime activities. He was a painter, a sculptor, a poet, a stain glass craftsman and enjoyed fly tying. Randy had a very inquisitive mind and especially enjoyed searching for rocks and fossils. Sometimes he would carve sculptures from these rocks, other times he would let his art students use them for carving and lapidary projects. Some of Randy’s best times were those spent enjoying life with his wife, Judy. They traveled widely and experiences exposure to world cultures and art together. Randy also enjoyed spending time fishing with his son, Robb and his three grandchildren. Randy was easy going, always happy and had a great sense of humor. Randy and his smile will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Judy Sarasin of Green Bay, his son, Robb (Vallie) of Menominee, WI; three grandchildren, Delissa, Dominique and Samantha Sarasin of Menominee, WI; two sisters, Ruth Ann (Elmer) Holm of Sparta, WI; and Aleta (Kurt) Kaukola of Gladstone, MI, as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Randy was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Janet. The celebration of life of Randy Sarasin will take place on Sunday, January 27, at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave, De Pere. Visitation will be held from 11:00am until the time of service. A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm with pastors Donna Ritchie and Mike Rasmusson officiating. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Angels on Arcadian Assisted Living and Unity Hospice for their care and compassion.
