Richard "Dick" John Vander Heiden, Jr.

Richard “Dick” J. Vander Heiden, Jr., 78, De Pere, passed away on February 15, 2023. Dick was born at home on June 24, 1944, to Richard, Sr. and Anna (Joosten) Vander Heiden. He married Lois Geurts on July 17, 1965. Dick graduated from Abbot Pennings High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force. After his military service he began working for Fort Howard Paper until his retirement after 35 years of employment. Some of Dick’s passions included golfing, bowling, volunteering, coaching youth sports, and he especially enjoyed gardening which he shared with the community with an honor system roadside stand.

Dick is survived by his children, Terry (Kim), Dan (Lisah), Pam Cornelius; grandchildren, David (Zandra) Leitch, Jessica (Robert) Tischler, Christopher (Amanda) Vander Heiden, Cade (Jenny) Vander Heiden, Nathan (Amanda) Vander Heiden, Ryker Vander Heiden, and Elliot Cornelius; and nine great-grandchildren. Dick is further survived by siblings, Rita (Nick) Mollen, Steve (Darlene) Vander Heiden, Cathy (Dave) VanEnkevort, Bernard (Linda) Vander Heiden, Patricia (Larry) Schmidt, Jean (Jay) Zahn, and Thomas (Beth) Vander Heiden. Dick is additionally survived by Lois’ family.

Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois; grandson, Alex Cornelius and two brothers-in-law.

Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N Webster Ave, De Pere, on Thursday, February 23, starting at 4:00pm, a prayer service will conclude the visitation at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue Friday, February 24, at St. Clare Parish-St. Paul site, 437 Main St., Wrightstown, from 9:00am until 10:45am. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00am with Rev. Brian Wideman officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Snyderville.
