Richard Kolarik, 87, of Denmark passed away on March 11, 2025, at the Jack and Engrid Meng Unity Hospice. He was born on August 30, 1937, in Stangelville to the late Carl and Mary (Cherney) Kolarik. Richard married the late Laurene (Kafka) Kolarik on May 27, 1972, at All Saints Catholic Church in Denmark. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2022. Laurene proceeded him in death on March 1, 2024. Richard was a member of the Holy Name and Catholic Order of Foresters. Richard was very active at All Saints Catholic Church doing lawn maintenance for the cemetery as well as serving as usher for many years.
Richard enjoyed many activities including hunting and fishing with his brothers and friends, tailgating and attending Packers games where he has been a season ticket holder since 1966, playing bingo with family and friends on Monday nights and going to tractor pulls.
Richard is survived by his son Jayme of Woodbury, MN, and daughter Joni of Denmark. He is further survived by his sister Mary Jo Shefchik, brothers Robert (Terese) Kolarik and Bill (Kandi) Kolarik, brother in law Maynard (Ethel) Kuehl, sister-in-law Jean Minten and brother-in-law Larry (Donna) Kafka. Many nieces, nephews, family and friends further survive him.
Preceding him in death are his parents, wife Laureen, sister Janice Kuehl, brother in law Norbert Shefchik, sisters in law Mary Ann Mincheski and Bonnie Gauthier and brother in law Denis Kafka and nephew Paul Shefchik.
Visitation will be held at Cotter Funeral Home, Denmark Chapel at 536 County Road R, on Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 2 to 6 pm. Prayer service follows at 6pm. Visitation will continue Monday, March 17, at the funeral home from 9 to 10:30am. Family and friends are asked to meet at All Saints Catholic Church, 145 St. Claude St., Denmark for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am with Father Xavier Amirtham, O.Praem officiating. Interment will be in All Saints Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
The family wishes to thank Unity Hospice for their care during Richard’s illness.
