Rita A. Wery, 90, longtime resident of De Pere, passed away Saturday, February 23. She was born May 28, 1922 to the late Irving and Alice (LeBelle) Sauvey in Green Bay. She graduated from West Green Bay High School in 1941. On May 31, 1943, Rita married Elmer Wery in Green Bay and together they raised five children and also welcomed 5 foster children into their home. She was a dedicated volunteer for St. Joseph School, and proudly served as sacristan at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. She is survived by her children: Allan Wery, Jack (Eileen) Wery, Mary Therese (Vaughn) DeVorse, Carol (Ken) Peterson; daughter-in-law, Pat Wery; son-in-law, George Landolt, close friend, Lori (Ed) Hock; brother, Raymond Sauvey; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer and a daughter, Barbara Landolt. Family and friends may visit at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, corner of Lourdes Avenue and Suburban Drive, De Pere, from 10:00am until the hour of Mass on Wednesday, February 27. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00pm on Wednesday with Fr. Tim Shillcox, O.Praem officiating. Entombment in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Cotter Funeral Home is assisting the family.
