Rita M. (Simoens) Marnocha

November 10, 1937 — November 30, 2014

Rita M. Marnocha, 77, of De Pere and formerly of Sun Prairie, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, November 30, 2014. The daughter of the late John “Wes” and Mabel (LaCount) Simoens, she was born on November 10, 1937 in Green Bay. She graduated from Pulaski High School and on August 30, 1958, she married Raymond “Skip” Marnocha at SS.Edward and Isidore Catholic Church in Flintville. Raymond preceded her in death on February 28, 2014 after celebrating 55 years of marriage together. Rita was the heart and soul of her large family and took great pride in taking care of them. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, sharing her “words of wisdom” and attending as many sporting events or activities as possible. She was a wonderful cook and baker, enjoyed gardening, and had a special love of dogs. Being snowbirds, together with Raymond, they spent many winters in Sarasota, Florida where they enjoyed long walks on the beach and beautiful sunsets. Rita was a friend to many and being a devout catholic, she often volunteered at church functions throughout her life and at the Sunshine Place in Sun Prairie, in her retirement. She is survived by her 5 sons and 11 grandchildren: Randy (Jenny) and their children, Drew, Adam and Kennedy; Jay (Jan) and their children, Stephanie and Ryan (Erin); Todd (special friend, Carol) and children, Shantel (Todd) and Casey; Craig (Susan) and their children, Brynna and Lindsey; Rob (Nancy) and their children Jesse (Becki) and David; a sister: Gerry Wesolowski; a brother: James “Butch” (Donna) Simoens; 3 brothers-in-law: Mike, John (Jean) and Doug (Julie), and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends may visit at Resurrection Catholic Parish, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez, on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 9:30am to 10:45 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Rita at 11:00am with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating and Rev. Dean Dombrowski concelebrating. Interment in SS. Edward and Isidore Cemetery, Flintville. Cotter Funeral Home is assisting the family.
