Robert Walch was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 5, 2024. He was born July 3, 1926, in Superior, Wisconsin to the late Reuben and Esther (Snyder) Walch. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nadine and one grandchild, Robert Henry Walch. He grew up on a small farm in Northwestern Wisconsin where he learned to love the outdoors. Bob served in WWII in the Philippine theater with the United States Navy. Following the armistice, their ship visited ports in both Japan and China. Like many other veterans, he chose to further his education and graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1950 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. A few weeks after graduation he joined Pure Oil Company.
On March 3, 1951, he and Nadine DuBois were married in Baraboo, Wisconsin. In November 1954, they moved to Green Bay where he joined Green Bay Paper and Pulp Co. Green Bay became their home where children Jeff and Randy were born. They continued to maintain a summer residence in Green Bay after retirement.
Bob’s association with Green Bay Packaging culminated in the establishment of the Coated Products Division where he served as Vice President, General Manager until his retirement in 1992. Bob always had the highest regard for his associates and felt it was a privilege to work for the corporation.
He described his recreation as hunting, fishing, golfing (he had six holes in one) and flying. He was a member of a flying club for many years and upon retirement had his own plane to commute to their home in Arizona. He began flying in 1944 and was still active at 97 years old.
Bob was a member of Faith Lutheran church having served in many offices and headed up two major building programs since joining in 1955. He was also an associate member at Risen Savior Lutheran Church in Chandler, AZ where he served as an elder.
He is survived by his children, Jeffrey (Mary Jo) Walch, Green Bay and Randy (Carol) Walch, Portland, OR grandchildren; Kelly (Ryan) Krueger, Suamico, WI Ryan Walch, Seattle, WA and Alyssa Walch, Santa Monica, CA and great grandchildren, Brynn Krueger and Cayden Krueger. His final days were highlighted by visits from his great grandchildren.
Family and friends may gather at Faith Lutheran Church, 2335 S. Webster Ave, Green Bay on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 9:00am until the service at 10:30am, Pastor Joshua Errer officiating. Military honors will follow the service. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Robert’s name may be made to either Faith Lutheran Church or Risen Savior Lutheran Church 23914 Alma School Rd Chandler AZ 85248.
