Roger Pierce, age 75 of Green Bay, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, December 14, 2024. He was born on August 12, 1949, in Marshfield to the late Albert and Marie (Bender) Pierce. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids. On July 12, 1969, Roger married Paula Weinfurter and was then enlisted in the United States Army that same month. He served his country until February 1971 and was a lifelong member of VFW Post 7534. Roger worked as a railroad engineer for Green Bay Western Railroad until his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking and keeping his lawn looking its best. Above all else, he loved his family. He loved watching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports. He was always there, cheering them on. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Paula, children; Shellie Verdegan and Mark (Dawn) Pierce, grandchildren; Ryan (Molly) Verdegan, Jordan (Hannah) Verdegan, Bryan Pierce and Emma Pierce. Roger is further survived by his great grandchildren; Kinsley, Hudson and Vaughn as well as his brothers and sisters; Harvey Pierce, Lynda (Lloyd) Ennett, of Wisconsin Rapids and Ona Mae Joling of Port Edwards, brothers and sisters in law; Jerome (Karen) Weinfurter, Glenn Weinfurter, David “Chet” (Amy) Weinfurter, Geraldine Pierce and Staci Weinfurter all of Wisconsin Rapids and Ann Scott, Minnesota as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Roger is preceded in death by his son Jay Pierce, his parents, mother and father in law, Hilary (Arlene) Weinfurter, brother Clarence Pierce and sister, Norma (Jim) Zurfluh.
Family and friends may gather on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave, De Pere from 11:00am until 1:45pm, service at 2:00pm, with Pastor Andy Zoerb officiating. Military Honors will follow. A private burial will take place at Fort Howard Cemetery.
