Romaine J. Thompson

Romaine J. (Tauber) Thompson passed away peacefully on October 12, 2024, at age 103. She was one of six children born to John and Agnes Tauber on August 5, 1921, in Denmark, Wisconsin. She was married to Julius "Ben" Krueger who died in 1983. She was later remarried to Austin "Tommy" Paul Thompson, who passed away in 1999 in Green Valley, AZ.

Romaine was an elementary school teacher for 26 years. She taught four years in public school, five years in a rural school, then 17 years in All Saints Catholic School in Denmark, WI. She loved the Catholic Church and she loved the United States. 

Romaine, known to friends as Roxy, moved to Green Valley, AZ over 25 years ago for the health of Tommy. She enjoyed teaching, art, music, animals and playing cards. She was especially good at bridge and pinochle. She loved her dogs, especially Prince. Every month, she looked forward to lunch with Saints Alive from the Green Valley Baptist Church.

Romaine is survived by eight nieces and nephews, Michele Keith; Lynne (Penny) Essig; Linda Tauber; Sheldon Burnside; Kevin Burnside; Kirk Avery; Erik Avery; and Mark Avery. A graveside service will be held at All Saints Catholic Cemetery in her childhood hometown of Denmark, Wisconsin, on October 25 at 2 p.m. where she will be buried next to her first husband.
