Rose Steinhorst, age 94, of Denmark, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2016. The daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Valenta) Lodel was born May 8, 1922 in Casco. She was raised in Tisch Mills, and on October 17, 1945, was united in marriage to John Steinhorst at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tisch Mills. She was an active member of the Christian Mothers Altar Society at St. James Catholic Church where she also assisted with funeral dinners, and enjoyed playing cards and baking. Survivors include her children: Janice (Gerald) Kehoe, Glenn (Brenda) Steinhorst, Bill (Janice) Steinhorst, Jerome Steinhorst, Dan (Laurie) Steinhorst, Tom (Patti) Steinhorst, and Teresa (Wayne) Peebles; grandchildren: Kristina (William) Foudray, Julie (Robert) Gaulke, Ken (Heather) Kehoe, Renae (Mark) Freund, Michael Steinhorst (friend Danielle Bertrand), Jackie (Jeremy) Holm, David (Sara) Steinhorst, Cathy (Steven) Lentz, Sara (Andy) Mancheski, Tami Steinhorst, Ryan Steinhorst, Trina (Mike) Ellison, Jon Steinhorst; great-grandchildren: Tien, Kael, Everett and Elias Foudray, Brianna, Jordan and Kayla Gaulke, Forrest Kehoe, and a baby Freund on the way in April, Evan and Alex Holm, Dakota and Abigail Steinhorst, Avery and Owen Lentz, Steven Leiterman, Lauren and Bennett Mancheski, Peyton and Brody Ellison, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. In addition to her husband, John, Rose was preceded in death by two infant daughters, siblings: George (Eleanor) Lodel, Lillian (Bernard) Finnel, Anna (Elmer) Whitney, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Joseph (Pauline) Steinhorst, Gertrude (Anton) Wavrunek, Margaret (James) Wavrunek, George Steinhorst, Esther (Phillip) Dorner, Helen (Frank) Paider and Alice (Earl) Finnel. Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home-Denmark Chapel, 536 Cty Rd R, Denmark, on Tuesday, October 25, from 4-8pm with a prayer service at 7:30pm. Visitation will continue at St. James Catholic Church, 18228 Cty Rd R, Cooperstown, on Wednesday from 9:00am until 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am with Fr. Bill O'Brien officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society, Green Bay Chapter. Our family would like to extend a thank you to the caregivers when she was at home, as well as to Scandinavian Court and Southern Care Hospice for their care and concern.
