Ruth, 81, of De Pere, was surrounded by family when she passed away after her battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). On Tuesday, March 22, 2011 Mom was led by angels into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born on July 13, 1929, the daughter of Rose and Charles Ponczoch of Rozellville, Wisconsin. On April 2, 1954 Ruth married and is survived by the love of her life, John (Jack). As a proud mother, loving grandmother, and devoted wife, Ruth cherished any time spent with her family. One of her greatest joys was being surrounded by her children and grandchildren and making one of her meals she was famous for. Mom loved baking bread almost as much as we loved eating it!! Mom loved to cook, other hobbies included crocheting, sewing, painting and playing cards with her grandchildren. She was also known to get away to the casino with her daughters and granddaughters from time to time. She always set a strict .00 spending limit, however. When it was gone so was Ruthie. Mom was an avid Packer fan and was thrilled to no end when the Packers won Super Bowl XIV. Mom was a great story teller and enjoyed reminiscing of the old days. We all enjoyed hearing of her days as a rough and tumble “tom boy” growing up on the farm. Our late night visits, card games, and laughing ‘til our sides hurt is going to be greatly missed!! Mom’s most famous quote, “This too shall pass.” In addition to her husband, she is also survived by her four children; Bruce (Debbie), Bonnie, Polly (Shawn), and Jon (Kim); Seven grandchildren; Elizabeth, Erin (Wayne), Christopher (Jillian), Sarah, Mindy (Jason), and Jazzmyn; She had three great-grandchildren Bryce, Brayden, and Addison. She is also survived by her sister Mary Ann and two brothers, Charles Jr and Clifford. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Sylvia, Joanne, Lucille and Ethel; brothers Russell, and Jim; and granddaughter, Kristin. Family and friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N Webster Avenue, De Pere, from 10am until noon on Saturday, March 26, 2011. A service will be held at noon, at the funeral home, with Pastor Steve Fewell officiating. Entombment in Allouez Mausoleum. Online condolences may be expressed to the Lund family at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff of Grancare and Oddfellows Nursing Homes and Unity Hospice for the excellent and loving care they gave to our mother and grandmother.
