Susan (French) Prust

November 26, 1946 — October 19, 2012

Susan French Prust, 65, Green Bay, passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 of complications due to uterine cancer. She was born in Chicago, IL November 26, 1946. She grew up in Chesterten, Ind, graduating from Chesterten High School in 1964. She went on to college at St. Norbert, graduating in 1969. She met the love of her life, Tom, while attending St. Norbert’s. They were married May 31, 1969, one day before her graduation. Immediately after graduation, the couple honeymooned in London, England before residing in Berlin, Germany for 1 ½ years, where Tom was stationed in the United States Army. Susan greatly enjoyed the experiences and great friendships that she developed along the way. Upon discharge from the service, Tom and Susan traveled in Europe for 2 months before returning to Green Bay where they established their life and raised their family. Susan was a master at friendships and connections. She cherished her college friends and the many new friends she cultivated through her multiple interests. Her fist involvement was Next Door Theatre for Children. She held many positions in the 34 years she was a member, including president and production coordinator for over 2 dozen plays. There are many adults today who are grateful for the leadership, energy and guidance that Susan provided during their early theatrical experiences. For over 30 years, Susan was involved with PEO-Chapter BS. She held many positions, including President. She was a shining star and a living example of what PEO Sisterhood truly means. Susan’s life was filled with fun, music and a love of dance. She sang and danced through life, bringing joy to all who were blessed to know her. She performed in the Angels Musical Review entertaining nursing home residents, and in Dudley Birders Chorale. She and Tom belonged to Neighborly for over 30 years and her tap dance group for 20 years. She was particularly proud of introducing her granddaughters to dance. Tom and Susan’s boys became involved with soccer at a young age. She was instrumental in establishing soccer as a WIAA sanctioned sport in the Green Bay School District. Susan was the Queen of many things. She was the original Queen of soccer moms. Many friends dubbed her as the Dessert Queen. Dessert was the only thing Susan was ever asked to bring for any get together, especially July 4th celebrations. Her positive attitude toward life was an inspiration to all who knew her and loved her. Friends dubbed her the happiness Queen for she was always upbeat and brought happiness to others. Susan’s many friends shared their personal thoughts with her over the past few months of her journey. Many spoke of her courage, her positive attitude, and how her kindness and caring for others never ceased. Comments included: “you are a shooting star, radiating light and fun as well as kindness,” “I’ve always thought of you as a first class role model for the family, a wonderful individual, a devoted wife and adoring mother,” and “I am asking God to cover you in a warm blanket of his care and peace.” Susan was a shining example of how to live and die with dignity and grace. She is survived by: her husband of 43 years, Tom, son, Tom, mother, Betty French, sister, Linda French Miller (Evan II), grandchildren: Antonio, Scheele, Taryn, Amelia and Fletcher. She is further survived by her brother-in-law, Ken Foral, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, her father, Charles Raymond French, her son Bill (July 8, 2012) and sister-in-law Phyliss Prust Foral.
