Timothy F. Ritter

January 9, 1945 — January 29, 2023

Timothy Frederick Ritter, age 78, passed away in Green Bay, WI, on Sunday, January 29, after a brief illness.

Tim leaves a brother Jeff (Kathy); sisters-in-law Mary Ritter and Judith Ritter; daughters Vadan Ritter and Wendy McDowell (Aaron DeGraff); many nephews, nieces and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents John and Esther, twin brother Tom, and brother John.

Tim was born in Minneapolis, MN, on January 9, 1945. He grew up in Cleveland Heights, OH, where he graduated from University School high school. He attended Lehigh University and was an army veteran from the Vietnam War era. Tim worked in metro Chicago for many years. He then moved to Milwaukee, WI, in his midlife.

Tim was known as the family historian, the infamous "Uncle Hortense" storyteller, the one who could bring laughter and smiles to all. In later years, he was the bingo expert of his care facility Edenbrook Green Bay. Tim was kind, caring, gentle, and admirably accepted the reality of his medical limitations.

Tim's family is grateful to the Veterans Hospital system of Chicago for their medical assistance with his mental illness. They are also grateful for the Wisconsin Community Services (WCS) program of Milwaukee, which sustained him for several decades.

An interment service will be held later this spring at Lake Forest Cemetery in Lake Forest, IL.

The family asks that any donations in Tim's honor go to the WCS program of Milwaukee, https://www.wiscs.org/.
