Verabelle T. “Vera” (Schroeder) Dworshok, age 87, of De Pere, passed away at her home with her family by her side on Monday, November 7, 2016 after a brief illness. She was born in Mass City, Michigan on January 25, 1929, the daughter of the late Walter and Agnes (Cogswell) Schroeder. She married Vernon G. Dworshok on December 17, 1946 in Biloxi, Mississippi, and he preceded her in death on April 7, 1994. Vera was a stay at home mother for many years before working as a CNA at St. Vincent Hospital for over 30 years. She was very proud to have obtained her GED in the late 80s. After retiring she became an avid golfer, bowler, Packer and Brewer fan, as well as a Phoenix Booster. She won her last golf tournament on August 24, 2016 at the age of 87. Vera enjoyed traveling extensively in the Unites States and Europe, as well as volunteering at the Weidner Center for many years. She also volunteered at Howe School as a Teacher’s aide. She loved helping the little ones learn how to read, the alphabet, and numbers. Mom often said she was so young when she started having babies. I had no idea what I was doing but I loved you all so much. She passed that love to her grandchildren and great-grand babies. Survivors include her children: Jean (Charles) Frederick, George (Dorothy) Dworshok, Dennis Dworshok, Diane (Tom) Bogenhagen and Barbara (Jon) Bilodeau; grandchildren: Philip (Beth Rueden) Frederick, Amanda (Conor) Fitzpatrick, Jim (Cara) MacKenzie, Rob (Bella Diaz) MacKenzie, Kirstin (Ryan) Hopson, Sara (Tyler) Nielsen, Jake (Amy) Bilodeau and Hannah (Tim Hartung) Bilodeau; great-grandchildren: Cadence and Norah Hopson, Archer Nielsen and Charles Fitzpatrick; brother and sister-in-law and their spouses, Kenneth (Jean) Schroeder, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in death by her siblings: Woodrow (Phyllis) Schroeder, Bernard (Violet) Schroeder, Calvin (Mary) Schroeder, Lyle Schroeder, Virgil (Arlene) Schroeder and Caroline (Ray) Boehm and a daughter-in-law Sheila Scribner. Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Avenue, De Pere, on Thursday, November 10, from 3:00pm until the time of service at 6:00pm with Sheila DeLuca officiating. In lieu of flowers, it was Vera’s wish that donations be made to cancer research or an animal shelter of your choice. Our family would like to express our gratitude to the caregivers of Unity Hospice and the Bellin Cancer Team for their care of our mother during her illness.
