Early in the morning of December 15, 2024, Vernon Martin Christopherson took the hand of the love of his life, Dorothy and joined her in their heavenly home-just in time to spend Christmas together.
Vernon was born on MARCH FOURTH, 1929 as the third child of August and Isabel. He was followed by five other brothers. Vernon attended UW Madison where he earned a degree in Agriculture and Biology. He served in the army for three years after graduation. Vernon and Dorothy met at 4-H camp and began courting soon after. They were married on June 23, 1956. They spent 65 years together before she passed away in 2021.
Vernon’s childhood on a farm in Lena, WI shaped his life’s work as an adult. First, working as a county agent in Ozaukee County, then as a salesman for Master Mix Feed and finally as a loan officer for Federal Land Bank.
Vernon will be lovingly remembered by his four children and their spouses, Paul and Mollie, Jan and Doug Phillips, Ann and Michael Dabeck and Bryan and Tammy. He was a proud grandfather to Lauren (Greg) Ritter, Luke, Erin (Kyle Fritz), Katie, Patrick, Jordan (Emily Spence) and Carley Phillips, Jameson (Micayla) and Robenson Dabeck, Ashley (Wes) Strey and Dustin Christopherson. He was blessed with nine great-grandchildren, Chase Christopherson, Graham and Amelia Ritter, Kaden, Lennon and Willow Fritz, Edwin, Elliott and Quentin Strey.
Vernon is also remembered by his brothers Kevin (Sandra), Wayne and Alan and his sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Pinkert and Monie Christopherson.
He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
For Vernon, all occasions, big or small, were a reason to celebrate with family, friends and good food and drinks. He enjoyed life to the fullest. So, to celebrate his life, we will be gathering at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 130 St Matthews St, Green Bay on Saturday, December 21, 2024 with Father Bob Kabat presiding. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. with the funeral Mass at 11:00. Full military honors will follow the Mass. There will be a committal at the Allouez Catholic Mausoleum at 12:30 p.m.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wyndemere Memory Care for their kindness and love in caring for Dad these last six months. We also would like to thank the staff of Unity Hospice for the support we all received during these last few weeks.
