Virginia L. Draghicchio

July 21, 1941 — August 29, 2024

Suamico

Virginia L. Draghicchio, age 83 of Suamico, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 21, 1941, to the late Sante and Giusepina (Frate) DeNobili in Tripoli, Libya. On April 24, 1962, she married Gioacchino “Kino” Draghicchio in Tripoli. Shortly after, the couple immigrated to the United States. Virginia was seven months pregnant and only spoke Italian. She taught herself English by watching soap operas. She was a devoted wife and mother. Virginia had a clever sense of humor, making the small things in everyday life shine. She was fiercely outspoken and strong, always clear in her views. She loved to cook, bake and play cards, especially bridge. She was extremely competitive, and coached soccer for her children in the 70s, when the sport was barely known in this country. Virginia also loved spending time with her grandchildren, sharing her Italian culture and teaching them the language. Her family was everything to her and she will be greatly missed by them all.

She is survived by her husband, Kino, children; Mauro (Joelle) Draghicchio, Barbara Draghicchio and Alex Draghicchio, grandchildren; Jacob Draghicchio, Stefania Draghicchio, Natalia (Teagan) McDermott, Sofia Draghicchio and Dante Draghicchio. Virginia is further survived by her sister, Anna Rossi, brother in law, Gregorio (Lidia) Draghicchio and sister in law, Italia Boraso.

Preceding her in death are her parents, sister, Isabella (Mario) Isastia, brother Augusto “Nino” DeNobili and sister in law, Giusepina (Franco) Rondalli.
