Walter L. Bettin, 95, De Pere, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012. He was born March 12, 1917 to the late Edward and Julia (Kolbusz) Bettin. Walter served in the Air Force from April 1941, to November 1945. Walter retired as a Terminal Manger at Clairmont Transfer, on November 1, 1978 where he worked for 25 years. Walter loved the outdoors especially trout fishing, and working on trout stream improvements. Walking, biking, camping trips were also very enjoyable to him as well. Walter was a member of the De Pere Men’s Club, AARP, Trout Unlimited, Amvets Post #11, Traffic Club and Experienced Traffic Club of Green Bay, Townsend Festival Association, Townsend Flowage Association, Lakewood X-C Ski Club, Nature Conservancy, International and National Wildlife, Trees for Tomorrow, Wisconsin Wildlife, and Northeastern Wisconsin Land Trust. Walter is survived by his sister-in-law Dorothy Bettin, and many nieces and nephews. Walter has been preceded in death by his 6 brothers, one sister, and sister- in-law. Family and Friends may call Tuesday, November 27, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m. at Cotter Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere.
